Bonsai Tree Care
Here are the basics of caring for a bonzai tree:
- Watering
- Use a fine garden hose sprayer, or a watering can. Nothing with too much power.
- It is also an option to place the place the tree in a water filled basic, but be careful about giving it too much.
- The amount of water needed varies dramatically by plant, so check with whoever you purchased it from for more information.
- Leaving the water soggy can get the plant a fungus, or an infection
- Repotting
- Repot the plants in a proper bonsai pot every 2 years, during the early spring.
- If you're using a growing box, make sure to start out with a training box.
- Wiring
- During the early spring or fall(when the branches are bendable), wrap wire around the branch, and point it in the direction you would like the branch to grow.
- Use A LOT of care when doing this to the trunk.
- Soil
- Location
- If left inside all the time the plant will die.
- Allow for several hours of direct or slightly filtered sun light every single day the plant is indoors, and it should be fine.
- Wintering
- The plant will enter dormancy during the winter, so when wrapping it, make sure not to wrap it too tightly, as this will encourage it to leave dormacy too early
